Activate eSIM on Android
How to add an eSIM on Pixel, Samsung, and other devices.
Requirements
- Compatible Android device (Google Pixel 3+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Motorola Razr, etc.)
- Android 10 or later (Android 13+ recommended)
- Stable Wi-Fi connection during activation
- Your device must be carrier unlocked
Method 1: Scan QR Code (Google Pixel)
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & Internet
- Tap SIMs → Add SIM (or +)
- Tap Download a SIM instead?
- Tap Next and scan the QR code from your confirmation email
- Wait for the eSIM profile to download and tap Confirm
- Enable the new eSIM and set it as your data SIM
Method 1: Scan QR Code (Samsung Galaxy)
- Open Settings
- Tap Connections → SIM Manager
- Tap Add eSIM
- Tap Scan QR code from service provider
- Scan the QR code from your confirmation email
- Tap Confirm to add the plan
- Enable the eSIM and set it as your mobile data SIM
Method 2: Manual Entry (All Android Devices)
- Go to your eSIM settings (see steps above for your device)
- Instead of scanning, look for Enter activation code or Enter code manually
- Enter the full LPA string from your confirmation email:
Format:LPA:1$SM-DP_ADDRESS$ACTIVATION_CODE - Tap Next or Confirm
- Wait for the download to complete
After Installation
- Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs (or Connections → SIM Manager on Samsung)
- Select your new eSIM
- Turn on Mobile Data and Data Roaming
- Set the eSIM as your preferred data SIM if prompted
- You're connected!
Troubleshooting
- QR code won't scan? Use the manual entry method with the LPA string from your email
- "Add eSIM" option not available? Your device may not support eSIM, or it may be carrier-locked
- No service after activation? Toggle Airplane Mode on/off, ensure Data Roaming is enabled, and restart
- Download failed? Check your Wi-Fi connection, restart the device, and try again
- Samsung: Can't find SIM Manager? Try Settings → search for "SIM Manager"
⚠️ Important: If activation fails for any reason, try restarting your mobile phone and attempt the activation again. A simple restart resolves most eSIM installation issues.
